One Month of Magic: The First Chapter of Throne & Heart
It’s official: Throne & Heart has survived its opening chapter! From our first online order to website designing and product sourcing, it’s been a whirlwind of (semi-)organised chaos and pure excitement.
Running an independent bookshop in the UK has been a dream come true. Every single ping of a new order sparks a happy dance. Whether you’ve bought a special edition romantasy book, gift, Parcel of Pages or followed us online, thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.
Being an indie bookstore is one thing but being a BookTok content creator is another entirely and not something I had fully appreciated before starting. Between trying create content and keep up with TikTok trends, it’s been a steep learning curve worthy of any epic fantasy quest.
Having said that, every single new follower has triggered yet another happy dance. I have been so excited that fellow readers have been finding our little corner of the book lover community. Every comment, like and message reminds me that the bookish world is full of kindred spirits who love reading and a good enemies-to-lovers arc as much as I do.
I’m proud to have linked in with other small businesses to bring you amazing handmade bookish accessories and gifts. From bookmarks to cold cups, mugs to stickers and totes, there is something for everyone to complement your love of books. We have plans to further expand our range including snuggly socks for the winter months, because there is nothing worse than not being warm and cosy with your favourite book.
This first month also marked the arrival of our newest team member: Manwell the Dragon, on our new logo. You’ll spot Manwell perched proudly across our Throne & Heart mugs, cold cups and totes. He’s the ultimate bookish mascot caught mid-page-turn while lounging on his throne. Our logo aims to celebrate exactly what we’re about and include a sense of humour only readers truly understand.
Coming up, we’ve got our first author Q&A planned with Rebecca Greenlaw, author of The Ordeals as well as a few other surprises in the works. Expect more book fairs, Christmas markets and the starting plans of a physical store for (fingers crossed) 2026.
As we close this first chapter and open the next, I just want to say a massive thank you. Thank you for believing in small businesses, for shopping indie and for letting me share my love of books and slightly unhinged fantasy fandom energy with you.
Here’s to many more months of dragons, books and “just one more chapter” moments.
